What Makes a Relationship

Last year, there were two students in my school who were at the verge of being in a relationship. They were not exactly what we would call the most popular kids at school and were quirky in a way that was deemed "weird" by most. One day as I discussed this with this becoming relationship with someone, he said that their union certainly would not be an 'OTP' or the best relationship.

His idea of the 'OTP' was the union of the prettiest girl and the most handsome boy of the grade which was an absolutely foul thought. If two people get together, it is none of your business if you think he is too good for her or she is too good for him. It does not matter if someone's forehead or nose is too large or bulky or weirdly angled. Gender does not matter either.

What ties the two people in a relationship are not always snow white doves sent from the Heavens. In the drawing above, the two people are tied by a strange looking bird, but united nonetheless. They may see something in each other that you may not. They hay be tied by something beyond your comprehension.

Their role in their relationship is not to represent a count in the 'Number of Relationships in Grade X'. It is for themselves. Their role in their relationship is not to provide someone with a reason to gush over or find an 'OTP'. It is for themselves.
